Pop Art as the name itself suggests refers to popular art. With the advent of pop art, it challenged the tradition by making an artiste use of the mass-produced visual commodities of popular culture. Pop art has become primarily popular as it is supported with themes and techniques drawn from popular mass culture. It includes advertising, comic books, and mundane cultural objects as well. As it challenged the tradition, pop art is also known as a reaction to the then-dominant ideas of abstract expressionism. As a result, pop art aims at employing images opposite to the elitist culture in art. It is the pop art that has always emphasized the banal elements of any given culture.
